I have just received and read the latest PHK with interest. I was particularly troubled by the lack of interest in the volunteer positions, of which I am one of those who has not made a commitment to serve. I am reluctant to volunteer to serve in a position for which I have no understanding of the level of time commitment necessary to carry out those duties. I am on active duty and travel frequently, often without much prior notice, which may hinder any consistent level of usefulness. Anyway, I have a couple recommendations for consideration that are related to this topic.

1. Emphasize in the PHK mailing the ability to access information on our internet site. The internet site seems under used as I observe the date of some of the forum posts and lack of use. Functions, such as this forum, need to be advertised as the preferred method in the clubs communications plan. Perhaps we can offer the choice of receiving the PHK electronically verses mailing...or a monthly email with a link to our website.

2. List and describe the volunteer openings and detail the scope of duties. Many of the duties may be annual cyclic efforts that will help a potential volunteer understand the expectations, roles, and responsibilities that they will be contending with.

3. In order to attract senior active duty members, I recommend a civilian employment and networking forum or link to help those transitioning between active duty and the civilian sector. I'm sure this may happen informally, but it may be an incentive to increase the utility of the PHK.

Thank you for your time.

Semper Fidelis,

Matt Sutton

Aloha,

Thank you for your posting. I see that you had not received a response to your posting. I am the webmaster and set this forum up in 2007. Unfortunately, as you can see, it hasn't been widely accepted or used.

Additionally, the Forum's President's Corner Moderator still has the name of a past President, John Harms. John was not the President at the time of your posting and now we have a new President - Jack Miller.

May I suggest that you email your rcommendation directly to Jack at jackmiller@hawaii.rr.com.

Meanwhile I will update the Forum and try to get the members more active in using the Forum.

Thanks again
